This time we have opened and reviewed a Mega Bloks set - John Deere Bale Transport Unit no 80841. The set consist of John Deere tractor with spades, Pick up truck and six bales of 'hay'. Set also got the 3 mini figures with John Deere logo on their t-shirst. We can find 384 pcs of blocks in the box which will keep us entertained for quite a long time. The instruction booklet is quite good and assembling the whole set is not too complicated. The Mega Bloks quality does not deviates from Lego blocks. In my personal opinion Lego in this particular area is even little behind, as we would not find similar sets with Lego logo. The Mega Bloks making really decent construction blocks, there is quite a lot choices of sets branded by famous makes like today's John Deere, Jeep or CAT. Lego has only city line which is more infantine than Mega Bloks. Ok back to the actual set. I had a lot of fun building it with my son Oskar, please see the video below if you would like to see our review. Oskar was helping me a lot, but I won't be hiding that assembling that set on his own would be very challenging. Oskar did help me a lot when assembling bales. We had 6 of them to build so I shared with Oskar. He was following my instructions very well, even I was very surprised how well he was doing. My lovely son is impressing me every single day. I love constructive toys as I played them them a lot as a child and I know on my example how simple bricks can develop child. I had only few sets but using imagination I was able to create almost everything. My imagination was only limit at the time. Today children have so many toys, but lacking one thing.. imagination. Not many of them can use it properly. TV ads showing them how to play the advertised toys, and in many occasions kids doing only what ads shows. I am trying to show Oskar that he can use each toy however he likes. I am trying to engage him while playing together, which is a reason (I guess) my son loves to play with me.

John Deere Bale Transport Unit set is a great example of a toy which can be used in so many ways. Kids can pretend their minifigures are farmers and have to transport bales from point A to B. Try load them on to trailer, or move them to the barn (builded from other toys). We can also pretend pick up truck had an accident and fall over with a trailer full of bales. The John Deere tractor and two kind farmers are coming to the rescue to help pick up driver to clean that mess! There is a limitless number of scenarios to me, specially when we have few more sets. We can mix them together and play so many stories. I don't want my son to keep sets on the shelf - it is great place for collectioner, but not for kids. They meant to be in their reach, so they can easily play them!
